The Beginning
Recast from the form of Krillien Tutatsa the Glorious Bastard once
again stands on Creation. His original name long forgotten, he was
a warrior that sought to protect his people, and to gain honor and
prestige. His deeds and courage attracted the attention of the
Unconquered Sun who recruited him for his new army. He and his army
played a crucial role in defeating the first Primordial, and once
again at the close of the War, where his duty to the overall goal
of winning allowed him to sacrifice himself, his army, and a large
part of the countryside to defeat the Primordial’s latest weapon
and secure victory for the forces of the Incarna and gods later
on.
The Glorious Bastard’s Exalted shard returned as the war was
ending, to late to enjoy any more battles, but new ones waited.
Being a young Exalt again, he was assigned mop up duties to pacify
former enemy lands. Through skirmishes and raids, he built his
power back up over a period of years to near where it was during
the War. Resentment also grew as he was snubbed by survivors of the
War whose age and power allowed them to dominate the Deliberative
and let them take first pick of weapons and assignments. His
previous service seemed to count for little, and he avoided the
Deliberative as much as he could.
The expansion of Creation took a fevered pitch and eventually he
was granted the Artifacts and materials necessary to push back the
Chaos and make his own addition to Creation. He did so with a zeal
and drive the other armies lacked. His expansion was so vast that
large portions were never inhabited, and his unwillingness to deal
diplomatically with the Raksha caused trouble for others.
Eventually the pressure to expand waned and attention went to
carving up the spoils. Those warriors that had fought long and hard
were not happy to turn control over to those who just sat back at
the Blessed Isle and did not fight, and they were in turn not
willing to spend large amounts of time away from their power base
on the Blessed Isle. Border disputes between the outlying lands
were settled by mock wars at first, using bludgeoning or stunning
weapons. Events grew more serious over time until a state of near
open war existed along the periphery.
The Glorious Bastard thrived in this environment. No longer
constrained by bureaucrats and debates, he was able to push himself
to his limit. Things got out of hand when the last surviving
original Dawn Caste of the War was killed in battle by the Bastard.
Some were surprised it took this long since they had never gotten
along during the War, and even less afterwards. For a while the
Deliberative was able to assert some control, but that eventually
slipped as other matters distracted them. The Bastard won and lost
land in a series of see-saw battles against various opponents. He
tried to become self-sufficient, but the need for complex
components and Exalts with the skill to make them prevented him
from breaking all ties. His lands were fortresses kept in a
constant state of readiness by pitting unit commanders against each
other for promotion. When the Usurpation came, the bloodiest
battles were fought in his lands. Three Sidereal Assassins were
dispatched to kill him, but they all failed. He was just too
prepared, some would say paranoid. The Bastard marshaled what was
left of his forces, many having switched allegiance, and made a
drive towards the Blessed Isle to seize control of the Defense
Grid. Ironically, he was one of the strongest opponents against its
creation, believing that a strong offense was a better defense. His
army was defeated in what was the largest Warstrider battle,
outside of mock battles, in history. This was the only battle that
the Sidereals openly participated in, and is also the reason no one
remembers the four-day battle or the massive casualties that
numbered in the millions.
The Present
Bastard is currently the prisoner and food of some fish-headed
Raksha for the next 100 years. He will probably not be happy with
the rest of the party for abandoning him, but then he did get his
ass kicked again so he may wait till he has an army and nation at
his service.
